Repair Coverage
General Motors will pay your General Motors Dealer the cost to remedy any covered failure of your vehicle, except as explained in the items listed under the "What’s Not Covered By

A "failure" is defined as an original or like replacement part covered by this Limited Warranty that does not function in normal service. To be covered, any failure must be repaired at a GM Dealer or a commercial repair facility of your choice using new or remanufactured replacement parts, unless we agree to do otherwise.

Subject to your deductible, we may either reimburse your out-of-pocket cost to repair or replace a covered part, or we may authorize and pay for the repair or replacement ourselves. In either event, we will authorize and pay the cost to remedy a covered failure of your vehicle, not to exceed the actual cash value of your vehicle at the time of the failure.

You are responsible for any charges incurred to determine the cause of the vehicle complaint; if it is determined that the complaint does not constitute a covered failure, you must pay for all diagnostic and associated costs. Covered repairs should normally be performed by the GM Dealer from whom you purchased your vehicle, or may be performed at the dealership of your choice.

Only covered mechanical failures occurring within Canada and the United States of America (including the continental United States, Alaska and Hawaii) are covered under the Premiere Optimum Used Vehicles Limited Warranty.

What must I do in the event of a covered failure?
In the event of a failure, you must:

  • Use reasonable means to protect your vehicle from additional damage.
  • Notify the Optimum Used Vehicle Dealer where you purchased or leased your vehicle or General Motors of Canada Limited, as soon as possible.
  • On weekends and holidays, or if you can’t contact a GM Dealer, you can call our toll-free claims hotline in Canada and the United States. Call 1-888-448-9888, between 9:00am and 5:00pm local time, seven days a week.

If we deem it necessary, you must allow us to inspect your vehicle and provide us with any information we may reasonably require prior to completion of any repairs, including documentation about your vehicle’s regular maintenance according to the service and maintenance schedule published by the vehicle manufacturer.

If I sell my vehicle is the warranty transferable?
Yes, both the remaining Manufacturer's New Vehicle Limited Warranty and Premiere Optimum Used Vehicle Limited Warranty coverage can be transferred to subsequent owners.

Can I extend my warranty coverage?
Certainly. Premiere Optimum Used Vehicle Protection Plans are available to enhance your coverage for up to 6 years or 120,000 kilometres. They also give you a choice of deductibles, $0 or $100. And all upgrade plans include a $40/day allowance to help cover the cost of a rental vehicle or other form of transportation. See your Optimum dealer for details.
